The traditional, full-featured time entry window with access to every field: client, matter, date, duration, rate, description, topic, billable toggle, timekeeper, and more.
Quick Capture is fast. The Launchbar timer is convenient. But sometimes you need the full picture. The Full Entry window gives you access to every single field on a time entry: client, matter, date, duration, rate, description, topic, billable toggle, timekeeper, and more. When you need complete control, this is where you go.

Multiple ways to get there, depending on where you are:
The Full Entry window opens as a dedicated form with every field visible and accessible. Nothing is hidden or collapsed.
Here is everything you can set on a time entry from the Full Entry window:
Select the client and matter for this entry. Start typing and auto-complete helps you find the right match. If you have a default matter set (from the Launchpad context), it is pre-filled automatically.

Defaults to today. Click the date field to pick a different date, or type the date directly. Useful for logging work you did yesterday or earlier in the week.
Enter the time spent. You can type in hours (1.5), hours and minutes (1:30), or just minutes (90). TimeNet Law converts automatically based on your preference.
Shows the billing rate for the selected timekeeper and matter. This is typically set at the matter level, but you can override it for individual entries. Useful for flat-fee items or special rate agreements.
The narrative for the work performed. This is where Text Expanders and Shortcuts really shine. Type abbreviations and they expand inline. Use a shortcut code and the description fills from your preset notes.
Write descriptions in plain language that your client will understand. Avoid jargon. "Research case law regarding statute of limitations defense" is much better than "legal research re: SOL."
Assign a topic or task code to categorize the entry. Topics help with reporting and analysis. If your firm uses UTBMS or LEDES codes, those are available here.
Defaults to the logged-in user. Change it if you are entering time on behalf of another timekeeper (requires appropriate permissions).
Marks the entry as billable or non-billable. Defaults based on the matter's settings. Flip it for pro bono work, administrative time, or any non-billable activity.
Use any of the methods above: menu, keyboard shortcut, Launchpad, or toolbar.
Start typing the client or matter name. Auto-complete narrows the list as you type.
Confirm today's date or change it to the correct date for the work.
Type the time spent in your preferred format (hours, hours:minutes, or minutes).
Describe the work performed. Use Text Expanders and Shortcuts to speed things up.
Adjust rate, topic, timekeeper, or billable status as needed.
Click Save to create the entry. It appears immediately in the Launchpad.

When you are entering multiple entries at once (catching up on a full day, for example), use Save & New instead of just Save. This saves the current entry and immediately opens a blank form for the next one. The client/matter selection carries forward, so you can quickly enter multiple entries for the same matter.
Catching up on a full day of unbilled time? Use Save and New to blast through entries. The client/matter carries forward, so you only need to change the duration and description for each entry.
The Full Entry window is the right choice when:
For quick, simple entries where the defaults work, Quick Capture or Quick Time Entry will be faster. For everything else, the Full Entry window has you covered.
